Exploratory Reflection

Exploratory Reflection prompt:

How much did you know about the subject before we started? What problems did you encounter while you were working on this piece? How did you solve them? What does this piece reveal about you as a learner? Did you do your work the way other people did theirs? In what ways was your work or process similar or different? What would you change if you had a chance to do this piece over again?

My Response:

The type of killing I decided to work on was state sanctioned executions, more specifically the moral and deterring aspect. I only knew that the death penalty was not a 100% accurate in executing inmates, and some issues I had was putting my own opinions on the piece. However, through rereading my text I was able to discern aspects that may lean more towards one side which I either reworded or got rid of. This piece reveals that I am able to conduct research on a topic and piece together different perspectives while keeping a neutral tone. I believe we all did similar work in that we all used the same ccny database library, but I saw that some of my peers included a summary which I did not include. I don’t think I would change anything if I had to do it again because I believe I wrote unbiasedly and researched well.
